If you have been around Industrial Athletics, the Home of CrossFit Alloy, lately, you may have heard some buzz about Yoga classes. We have been testing a few yoga instructors the last few weekends, and we think we have found a good match. Starting this Saturday, February 8th, at 12:30pm, Janna Leyde will begin teaching yoga at Industrial Athletics. She currently teaches for Schoolhouse yoga and Bend yoga where she focuses on vinyasa style. She has also taught at Cool Springs Yoga, Mala Yoga, East Yoga Center, WWP Corporate Yoga, School of Interior Design, and Jai Yoga Arts. We are going to start this small and see how interest develops. Classes will be once a week on Saturday’s at 12:30pm and we will add classes to meet demand.
We are offering yoga for multiple reasons. While yoga is not actually designed to be a “stretching routine,” one of the many benefits is increased flexibility. This will translate to better performance and range of motion in CrossFit and help to prevent injuries. Also, yoga is great for relaxation and to help recharge that internal motor for the coming week. Even though we usually use our gym for high intensity loud training, it can also be a peaceful quiet place.
As far as equipment is concerned, all you will need is a yoga mat, towel, and a water bottle. Industrial Athletics has a number of mats available for use, but we encourage you to bring your own if you have a favorite. The class runs approximately 60 minutes, and yes, we turn up the heat.
For Industrial Athletics members, classes will cost $5.00 (far below any other studio’s drop-in fee). Nonmembers are also welcome for a fee of $10 per class (still well below other drop-ins). All are welcome, even if you have not done yoga before. Janna is great working with all levels. Let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see you all there!
