Athlete of the Month for May of 2016

It is time to announce the Athlete of the Month for May of 2016.  This member is a regular at the early, early morning class (5:15am).  She and her husband moved to Pittsburgh about a year ago.  She joined without knowing anyone and soon found that she fit right in at Industrial Athletics.  She attends almost religiously 5 days a week.  She is often seen dragging her husband, Matt, to our social events.  On May 21st, she will be representing Industrial Athletics at her first local competition.  She is always positive and always encouraging.  We are happy to announce the Athlete of the Month for May of 2016 is:

STACY KROHN

1.      Where are you from originally?

SK: I moved around a bit, but mostly grew up in Orlando, Florida.

2.     If not from Pittsburgh, what brought you to Pittsburgh?

SK: My husband and I both got jobs in Pittsburgh last May.

3.     Where do you work?

SK: I’m a buyer at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

4.     What is your favorite hobby?

SK: I love reading, cooking, and playing with our dog!

5.     How did you discover CrossFit?

SK: I needed a place to workout when we first started; IA was super close with a convenient 5:15am class, so I stopped in to check it out. The rest is history!

6.     When did you start CrossFit?

SK: We started shortly after moving here last May- I think my first true workout was Murph! (and she came back!)

7.     Why did you start CrossFit?

SK: I’ve always loved weightlifting, and loved the idea of combining it with cardio to make a workout. I’m also a huge fan of difficult workouts, so IA provided an obvious combination of all those things.

8.     What is your favorite thing to do in CrossFit?

SK: deadlifts and handstand push-ups

9.     What is your least favorite thing to do in CrossFit?

SK: Wall balls… I absolutely loathe wall balls!

10.  What is the number 1 thing you want to get better at?

SK: double unders for sure!

11.  What is your favorite part about coming to CrossFit at Industrial Athletics?

SK: There are so many things that I love about IA, but the obvious standout is the community. Everyone is so nice, friendly, and supportive. It’s been great to instantly tap into such an incredible group, especially right after moving here without knowing anyone. I am so grateful and appreciative of all the wonderful people I’ve met at IA! It’s an exceptional thing to realize you’re having a blast pushing yourself through a tough workout at 5 in the morning, so a special shout out to the 5:15am class. Thanks for always pushing me!!

12.  What is your favorite CrossFit WOD?

SK: I think I’d say Murph, because that’s what started it all for me!  (Fantastic, a birdie told us it is in the Programming soon)
