Jeff Golden’s fitness journey at Industrial Athletics is defined by resilience, community, and the pursuit of mental well-being. What began as a way to channel energy and cope with post-college uncertainty has grown into a powerful routine for managing anxiety and ADHD. Through early morning workouts, supportive coaches, and genuine friendships, Jeff Golden has found more than just physical strength—he’s discovered confidence, belonging, and a renewed sense of purpose. For him, it’s not just about finishing a tough workout; it’s about calming the mind, building connections, and thriving within a caring community.Â
Finding Focus Again
After I graduated college, I felt lost and needed something to put my energy into. I had been involved in fitness prior to moving to Pittsburgh, and I figured now is a good time to get back into it. Â I was feeling anxious on a daily basis, my ADHD was running wild, and I had poor eating and sleeping habits.
A Warm Welcome
Coming to IA I immediately felt welcome and comfortable. Everyone I met was friendly, caring, and supportive. The coaches eased my mind because they would explain the workouts and have exactly what we were going to do on the board and would remind us throughout the workout.
Pushing Through the Challenge
Getting into a tough workout would sometimes have me questioning my confidence if I could complete it or not. There was always someone there telling me to keep going. Pushing through my anxiety and finishing the workout was such a rush! The endorphins were nice too! I prefer working out first thing in the morning. This helped calm my racing thoughts and helped me achieve goals outside of the gym as well.
Confidence, Community, and Consistency
Keeping a healthy and consistent gym routine has increased my self-confidence. The friendships I’ve made at IA are awesome. I have a sense of belonging and care a lot about the people here.
