Exciting News: Eugene Novak is Our January 2025 Athlete of the Month!
We are beyond excited to announce that Eugene Novak has been named our Athlete of the Month for January 2025! Eugene’s journey with CrossFit is a testament to his dedication, passion, and relentless drive to improve. While he may be a familiar face around the gym, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate his achievements and the incredible effort he puts into every workout.
Eugene is no stranger to CrossFit. His journey began a decade ago at another gym, and after a brief hiatus, he returned to the sport with even more enthusiasm. We were thrilled when he chose to join the Industrial Athletics community, and he’s been with us for over eight months now. During this time, Eugene has consistently been a regular in our morning classes, showing up early, ready to work hard, and pushing himself to be the best version of himself.
What really sets Eugene apart is his commitment to his fitness. Not only does he attend classes with regularity, but he also took part in our internal competition back in November. Eugene didn’t just show up—he absolutely crushed it! His dedication and focus during the workouts were impressive, but what stood out most was his unwavering support for his teammates. His words of encouragement and positive presence made a lasting impact on everyone around him.

1. Where are you from originally?
I grew up just north of Pittsburgh in southern Butler county.
2. Where do you work?

3. What is your favorite hobby?
Traveling, drinking craft beer, and being outdoors
4. How did you discover CrossFit?
It’s been so long that I do not remember.
5. When did you start CrossFit?
I originally started 10 years ago and did it for a number of years. After taking a break for a few years, I found IA and am happy to be back at it.
6. Why did you start CrossFit?
I needed to exercise and going to the gym on my own never lasted. CrossFit is great because it’s a different workout every day. I also like that there is someone telling me what to do and helping me get better.
7. What is your favorite thing to do in CrossFit?
See the improvements that I’ve been making over time
8. What is your least favorite thing to do in CrossFit?
Run
9. What is the number 1 thing you want to get better at?
Recently I’ve been working on getting better at pull-ups. While I do not enjoy running, I have been pushing myself to improve there as well.
10. What is your favorite part about coming to CrossFit at Industrial Athletics?
The people.
Everyone from the coaches to the other athletes is supportive of everyone. I’m very impressed with the coaches and how they all work with everyone to improve at their own level.
11. What is your favorite CrossFit WOD?
Anything that does not involve running! 🙂
