We’re excited to announce Haley Dunn as our October 2024 Athlete of the Month! You can find Haley in both morning and evening classes, always welcoming you with a smile that lights up the room. Not only does her contagious smile brighten our days, but she also brings a sense of fun to every class. Haley joined us on a Bring a Friend Day and was instantly hooked, and we’re grateful she decided to become a permanent member of our IA community.
Haley is committed to improving her health by attending classes regularly and actively participates in our social and community events. She recently represented IA well at the Out of the Dark volunteer opportunity.
Determined and tenacious, Haley approaches her workouts with a smile. She exudes confidence while also embodying a humility that draws people in. She loves heavy lifts and gets excited when they’re on the workout menu, but she also recognizes areas for improvement and embraces the challenge. It’s this attitude that has contributed to her rapid growth!
We are thrilled that Haley has embraced IA and has become a cherished member of our community. Please join us in congratulating Haley on being named our October 2024 Athlete of the Month!
1. Where are you from originally? I am originally from Sewickley. I grew up here and everything about Pittsburgh feels like home.
2. Where do you work? I recently got a new job and work at TJMaxx
3. What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is definitely film. I went to art school and also love going to the museums.
4. How did you discover CrossFit? I originally remember hearing about CrossFit years ago and my initial thought was that I physically could never be able to do it.
5. When did you start CrossFit? I first started CrossFit this year in January at IA!
6. Why did you start CrossFit? I started CrossFit because AK took me to a few bring a friend classes and I enjoyed lifting a lot. I quickly learned how incredible the community is and supportive everyone at IA is.
7. What is your favorite thing to do in CrossFit? My favorite thing to do is weightlifting but more specifically shoulder presses. While I was healing from a knee injury it was one of the only movements that I could do and I feel really strong in it.
8. What is your least favorite thing to do in CrossFit? I don’t find anything to be a least favorite but I do struggle with cardio and try to look at it as an area of opportunity.
9. What is the number 1 thing you want to get better at? I would really like to get better with running. Out of all of our cardio movements it is definitely my weakest.
10. What is your favorite part about coming to CrossFit at Industrial Athletics? My favorite part of coming to IA is the community and coaches. My social calendar has never been so full and the amount of laughter we share during the workouts fuels me to keep coming back.
11. What is your favorite CrossFit WOD? I don’t have a current favorite WOD, however I love any WOD that includes heavy lifting or one rep maxs!
