Announcement: CrossFit Charity Event

One of our members, we call him Fireman Dave, has asked Industrial Athletics, the Home of CrossFit Alloy, to attend a charity event in September.  Here are the details:

What:  Working Out for Matt

When:  September 14, 2013, at 8:00am

Where:  1395 Washington Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (that is the Pittsburgh Fire Academy)

How much:  $25 (cash or check)

How to register:  email Ed Dursi at pittsburghfirefightercrossfit@gmail.com

This is a fundraiser for Matt Onyshko.  Matt was a Pittsburgh Firefighter who developed Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2008.  ALS causes Matt to lose control of his motor functions such as walking, talking, eating, and breathing.  This fundraiser is designed to bring the CrossFit Community together to raise money for Matt’s family and bring awareness to ALS.

For those who wish to participate, email Ed to register and request a starting time.  He will reply with a waiver that you will need to sign and bring with you on the 14th.  Waves for the workout will be posted and updated on the Facebook page at Pittsburgh Firefighter Crossfit.  Workouts will start every 15 minutes and continue until everyone is complete.  The workout will be announced one week prior to the event and be scaled as necessary.

If you have any questions, please ask one of our coaches.  This is a great event.  We hope to have a large IA, CFA turnout.
